GCA Advises Kabuku on Its Sale to Futaba

We are pleased to announce that our client Kabuku, a provider of cloud-based solutions for 3-D printing and other manufacturing methods, sold a 90% majority stake to Futaba, a manufacturer and distributor of electronic components and systems. This marks our 19th transaction in the software and industrial technology sectors since the start of 2017.

Kabuku Inc. (“Kabuku”) provides cloud-based 3-D printing solutions to enterprises, additive manufacturing services for factory users and related marketplaces for creators. The company’s proprietary AI technology supplies automated quotations, optimal manufacturing methods and delivery dates for customers’ orders.

Founded in 1948, Futaba Corporation (TSE: 6986) manufactures machinery and tooling, electronic components and electronic systems. The company’s major products include radio control equipment, press die set components, mold base components and vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) modules.

Kabuku intends to generate new digital manufacturing business opportunities through Futaba’s manufacturing client network. Futaba aims to create value through the incorporation of software into its hardware businesses via the acquisition of Kabuku’s platform, as well as its software development capabilities in the fields of IoT and AI.
