GCA Advises Parallels on Its Sale of Plesk to Oakley Capital
First released in 1999, Plesk is a widely used control panel and software platform for simplifying the lives of web professionals. Key features include the automation and management of domain names, email accounts, web applications, programming languages, databases and infrastructure tasks to provide a ready-to-code environment and strong security across all layers and operating systems.
The Plesk software platform is available in 32 languages and operates globally on more than 350,000 servers, supporting the operations of more than 10 million websites and 18 million email boxes. In 2003, Plesk was acquired by cross-platform and virtualization vendor Parallels.
Ezequiel Steiner, CEO of Parallels Holdings, commented: “Parallels is very pleased to continue its strategy of focusing on its core virtualization technology. The sale of Plesk marks another milestone in this process and we believe this is the best move for the long-term benefit of Plesk’s employees, customers and partners.”
This deal adds to GCA’s extensive track record as a leading advisor in the software sector. Since the start of 2017, GCA has advised on six transactions in the sector, including Verizon’s acquisition of drone operations management software company Skyward and the sale of 3D image processing software developer Gestigon to Valeo.
